Cultivando Água Boa Tangará

Project
Predict the future by creating it
The "Cultivating Good Water Tangará" project is carried out by the Pantanal Amazon Conservation Institute, and its main objective is to revitalize the sources and preservation areas of the Queima Pé and Ararão rivers, which are fundamental to the city of Tangará da Serra.
Tangará da Serra has faced critical water supply situations in recent years, and recovering and conserving the Queima-pé is the first step towards ensuring a future with water security.
The Queima Pé River, in particular, is the main source of water to supply the population, while the Ararão River receives treated effluent and may become an alternative source of supply in the future. The project seeks to guarantee the quality and quantity of water available to the population.
In 2021, IPAC recovered the headwaters of the Queima Pé River. The results are already visible. There has been no drought in the headwaters of the Queima Pé River since the implementation of the actions and measures taken. This successful experience demonstrates the effectiveness of the strategies adopted and the importance of investing in the recovery of water resources.
We will carry out this work at the sources of tributaries of the Queima Pé River and the Ararão River. The work includes unblocking the spring, implementing contour lines to prevent flooding, reforesting within a 50-meter radius around the spring, and installing Groundwater Recharge Intensifiers (IRLF).
The Cultivating Good Water Tangará project is an example of how the joint efforts of non-governmental organizations, the government, and civil society can generate positive results for the environment and the community.
Therefore, supporting IPAC's initiative is essential. Sharing the project's message and engaging in the preservation of water resources are ways to contribute to the conservation of these natural treasures and ensure that future generations can also enjoy the benefits that water offers. Together, we can make a difference and ensure a greener and more sustainable future for everyone.

The project aims to create a sustainability movement with global impact through an extensive process of environmental education, awareness and engagement of the entire community. This project will be implemented in two stages:
Phase 1 – Generation of the Collective Movement: "Cultivating Good Tangará Water".
Phase 2 – Intervention in the Basin.
